Hope Plays

Here is another wonderful email we received from our friend at Bethel this morning:

“Li Hao actually came down with a fever this afternoon.  I am not sure what it is but there seems to be a virus going around because we have several kids who have fevers but no other symptoms.  I was all excited to write to you, though, because while I was with her this afternoon we were playing a little game.  I was feeding her lunch and she started slapping her hand on the seat she was seating on making patterns.  She’d hit the chair three times then pause.  So, I decided to play along and hit the chair three times.  She did it again.  I did it again.  Then she started doing variations…two whacks, four whacks.  I’d follow and she got the cutest look on her face.  It was the closest thing to a smile that I’ve seen…I’d say it was one but a little on the mischievous side.  🙂  She was obviously humored that I was copying her and trying to trick me.  It was so cute!  She also definitely turns and looks towards the light.  I don’t know that she sees anything else, but she definitely sees light.  She always wants to be facing the windows.  Whenever I’m holding her she will reposition herself to be looking towards the light.  I’m trying to speak lots of English around her and singing English ch. songs and stuff so she will be familiar.  This is sooo fun!  I can’t wait till you get to see her in person!

She’s now up in the isolation room playing in a crib with another sickie.  They seem to be having a good time and her fever is down. “
